Prayer of the Desperate
Prayer of Desire
Prayer of the Determined.
more often than not we come before God in desperation and cry out to him for help. I am no god, but i have a friend, a sister in Christ who reached out to me in desperation. but who am i, created in God's image, to refuse to render aid? for God our father is so good to give his children things that are asked of him. Likewise, i choose to render aid to a friend in dire need.
God said what you did for the least of these, you did it for ME.
The second prayer is probably prayed just as often as the first. Often we come to God with not just needs. we come to him with A LOT of wants. Remember that needs are fundamentally different from wants or desires. Need basically has no bias. desires sometimes can be lived without. God does however grant our desires. sometimes desires are coupled with desperation. as with other desires, God grants it in his perfect timing, never earlier, never later.
Fairly rarely do people pray determinedly. in other words, there are not many who consistently pray for the one thing, and hence do not experience breakthrough. this prayer is especially important to break down barriers and obstacles in body, mind and spirit.
Are you a morning person? do you just pray in the morning? and if your day doesn't start well you skip your "alotted time" for God in the morning and come back feeling all exhausted?
Or are you a night person, you leave your time with God at the end of the day, just thanking him for the day gone past, or pray for the idiot who cut you off in traffic on the way home?" Or do you not pray at all, coming home at the end of the day feeling so worn out that you decide unconsciously or consciously to skip your time with God?
Prayer is not restricted to just one part of the day. Don't just pray in the morning or at night. pray during your lunch break as you fuel your body. pray when you decide to take a walk to improve your body. Pray while you cook, pray while you do your chores, pray while you spend quality time with the kids.
Prayer is like your 1800-toll free number to get in touch with the creator of the universe. So go use it whenever you can.
